I’ve been thinking about Christmas a lot lately.
We have a big family, and honestly, Christmas is the one time of year when everyone is actually excited to sit down and eat together. It’s expected. We all know it’s coming, so we put the stress aside for a little while and just show up. I love that about it. There’s something about knowing the date is coming that makes it easier to clear the calendar and just be together.

It’s been several years since I’ve offered Christmas mini sessions. Life got busy, Dan’s fall, the kids’ sports seasons running long, a couple of family trips that always seemed to land right when I’d normally be planning and I just didn’t make the space for them. But I miss them. I really do. There’s something about photographing families in that little window right before the holiday rush that feels different. And for a lot of people (me included), booking a mini is the thing that finally flips the switch into Christmas mode.
Every year when we pull out the trees, it feels like a little time capsule of who the kids were that year. We have the big family tree plus a smaller one for each of them, and we always add a new ornament. The kids have started hanging their own on theirs now, and I love watching them choose what belongs on their tree. The hope was always that when they eventually leave home, they won’t have to start from nothing, and we’ll still have the family ones for ours. I’ll definitely be keeping a few of their baby ornaments for myself though.
So this year we’re doing them again.
Session Dates
Sessions will end of November and first week of December. I’m still finalizing the exact dates and times, and I’ll share those details as soon as they’re locked in.
These are short, focused sessions. No big production, no pressure to get everything perfect. Just a little time together with pine trees and the people who matter most, so you have something real to look back on when December gets loud. They’re the kind of sessions that feel easy but still give you the images you actually want to keep. Ones that end up on the fridge or in the cards you send.

I think that’s part of why I keep coming back to them. They don’t fix the busy, but they give you a little pocket of time that feels like Christmas before the calendar fills up completely. And for a big family like ours, those pockets matter.
If you’ve been waiting for a small nudge to get into the season, this might be it. Message me if you want a spot, they tend to fill up once people start thinking about Christmas cards.
