There’s just something about fall, isn’t there?
The changing leaves, the cooler air, cozy sweaters, warm colors, and that golden afternoon light that makes everything feel a little more magical. Fall has a way of making ordinary moments feel special, and it’s one of my favorite times of year to get people in front of my camera.

If you’ve been thinking about updating your family photos, planning a couples session, or just wanting some beautiful photos of this season of life, fall is a pretty great time to do it.
And no, you don’t have to be a perfectly coordinated family wearing matching beige sweaters to have beautiful fall photos. Promise.
One of my favorite things about fall sessions is how much the environment adds to your photos. The changing colors, the textures, the golden light, and even the slightly chilly weather all contribute to creating images that feel warm, natural, and full of life.
Fall also gives us so many opportunities to make a session feel like you.
Want to wander through the changing leaves? Let’s do it.
Want to cuddle up with your favorite person and laugh until you forget I’m holding a camera? Even better.
Want to bring the kids and let them run around instead of asking them to stand perfectly still and smile at the camera for an hour? I am absolutely here for that.
Some of my favorite images come from the moments in between the poses. The real smiles, the little interactions, the wind messing up your hair, and the moments you weren’t expecting to become your favorites.
You don’t have to know how to pose or be a model. That’s what I’m here for!

If figuring out outfits is the thing keeping you from booking a session, let’s make it a little easier.
Think coordinating, not matching.
You don’t all need to wear the same color. Instead, choose a few colors that work well together and mix them throughout everyone’s outfits.
Some beautiful fall color combinations include:
Layers and textures are your friends! Think sweaters, jackets, scarves, corduroy, and soft knits. They add dimension to your photos and are practical when the temperatures start dropping.
One more tip: wear something you can comfortably move in. We’re going to walk, interact, laugh, and probably do a little more moving around than you expect. You want to feel like yourself, not like you’re wearing an outfit you can’t breathe in.
I know getting ready for family photos can feel like a whole production.
Someone can’t find their shoes. The kids suddenly hate every outfit you picked. Your partner asks why you’re taking so long. And somehow, you’re the one responsible for making sure everyone looks good and gets out the door on time.
If that sounds familiar, take a breath.
Your session doesn’t have to be perfect to be meaningful.
Kids are kids. Hair gets messy. The wind does what it wants. Sometimes the photos you end up loving most are the ones where something unexpected happened.
My goal isn’t to make you look like someone else. It’s to capture the connection, personalities, and little moments that make your family or relationship yours.
So come ready to have fun. I’ll help with the rest.
Fall colors and weather can be unpredictable, and the best timing depends on where we’re shooting.
Early fall can bring beautiful warm tones and a little more comfortable weather. Later in the season, we may get deeper colors, falling leaves, and that cozy, almost wintery atmosphere.
Golden hour is often a favorite because of the soft, warm light it creates. But the location, weather, and overall look we’re going for all play a part in choosing the right time.
If you’re hoping for those gorgeous changing leaves, it’s worth planning ahead. Peak color doesn’t stick around forever!
And if the leaves have already fallen? Don’t count fall out just yet. Bare trees, tall grasses, overcast skies, and earthy colors can create a beautiful look all their own.

Let’s Make Some Fall Memories
Whether you’re looking for updated family photos, a couples session, or simply an excuse to get dressed up and spend some time together, I’d love to help you make it happen.
You don’t need a special occasion. You don’t need to wait until everyone has the perfect outfit or the kids are a little older. And you definitely don’t need to know how to pose.
You just need to show up as you are.
Fall is fleeting, and life has a way of moving faster than we expect. These photos are a little way to remember what this season looked like — not just the colors on the trees, but the people you got to experience it with.
